Americans, Weddings, A Flatwarming and a Sunset
July 25, 2007
Hello again, apologies for another fairly long gap between posts. I’m now up to date with developing and everything like that, so can give a full, up to date entry. July has been pretty busy so far, here are some photos from the last 3 or 4 weeks…
Ryan and I went to see Deerhoof at ABC2, it was really good.
Doing the washing up at Jenn’s – there is a massive white roof across from her kitchen window, which acts as a very nice, corrugated reflector.
Eating tapas in La Tasca.
Here’s Richard, checking the schedules in work. I know this is very grey. Tri-x +1 in rodinal.
My Gran and my Aunt came round for dinner one evening.
Hmm.
Taking shelter in the rain. The weird blur in the bottom left may be my hair, I’m not sure..
Idiotic graffiti behind the Main Street. They always paint over this wall every few months, everytime they do something even more stupid gets put up.
My mum, on the stairs.
Two weeks ago, I met up with Kyle, and his brother Mitch up in St. Andrews for an evening.
The first shot from the first pub we went to.
Camera geeking.
Kyle and his dad in the next pub we went to – we spent about an hour talking with Kyle’s parents, his uncle and some family friends (who actually live really nearby to me back in Glasgow), until the pub closed at 12. Good times.
Then, a few of us went for a walk about the town, and down to the pier for a few hours.
Mitch, in almost total darkness, at the top of a pier in the north sea.
Kyle, on the pier. Lit by the light from my phone. Superia 800 <3. Scratches courtesy of the pro lab <3
The (not very good) shot that they said couldn’t be made – delta 400+1, 1 second @ f2
Mitch in the garage we popped into to get some food (Hob Nobs in this case).
Mitch, trying Irn Bru for the first time. Irn Bru is a Scottish soft drink – Scotland is the only country where Coke isn’t the top selling soft drink – this stuff is, and it’s awesome. Especially cold, from a glass bottle. The first drink always kinda hurts your throat a bit, hence Mitch’s face in the 3rd picture. He liked it though.
Tiny bathroom group photo-op.
Kyle outside the garage at about 2am. A bit shaky, sorry..
The girl in the red coat was very drunk, but not as drunk as her friend (out of shot) who asked us to knock a door to wake her boyfriend up. Hmm. Again, <3 Superia 800.
It was a really good night, lots of interesting conversations. Kyle gave me a copy of his book, which is super cool. He should be staying at my house for a few days at the end of August, should be fun.
A few nights later, Grant Jenn and I we went shopping at Tesco. This is grant with some rubber ducks. My amazing timing as usual, here.
Jenn and a cake.
The next night, Jenn had a flatwarming party. So a few people put spaghetti through their piercings.
Karina.
Grant.
Karina and Grant.
The spaghetti wouldn’t fit through the hole in my eyebrow, but i tried.
Grant, the morning after. I dropped Karina off at the cinema where she works, and picked up some Burger King.
Just realised I had forgot to put the following photos in earlier on – my chronology is a bit wonky I’m afraid. All on Superia 800 which has been PROCESSED BY PROFESSIONALS
Grant, in Ikea, post-shopping.
Waiting outside the cinema for Jenn. Not much in this shot really, but I liked the colours.
We went out for Jenn’s mum’s birthday, she had travelled down from Inverness. Anyway, we met this woman in a pub, she lives in Goa most of the time, but comes back to scotland for a few months every year. Travels to lots of other places too. Thomas is sitting next to her. I think the lack of sharpness is due to her movement, but it was pretty dark in there.
Enjoying the relative novelty of colour film.
We went bowling one night, but it was closed, so we wandered about the shopping centre for a while, discovered a part that had been turned into a beach, and found a photography exhibition. Strange.
Back to the chronology. Last sunday, Jenn and I went up to St. Andrews for a few days. Shot a roll of APX100. Now i only have two rolls left!
You may already have seen this one. Same pier as earlier in the blog, just during the day.
We were hanging outabout 20 feet above the sea on a fairly small platform..
..with a sunset for company. Then we went to see ‘La Vie en Rosé’ at the cinema.
Then, the next day we went to the beach at Kingsbarns. The weather was great, very summer-y. I ended up up to my waist in the water. It was pretty cold.
A few days later, I bumped into Dave up at the PRO LAB.
At the weekend, one of my best friends married my second cousin – it was a great day. Kinda strange seeing two of your good friends getting married, but it was a good kind of strange
Mick, in the church.
‘Don’t you be taking our photo!’
My Uncle, outside the church gates.
Janet’s side of the family, or at least some of them.
The reception was held in Janet’s garden, inside a big tent. Well, a fancy tent with wooden floors, which looked like this:
Freehand panorama, stiched using an EOS program. Try to ignore the seams!
Jonny and Pmumie.I told them to be emotionless.
Pmumie.
Frank.
Frank and Margaret.
The Bride and Groom. After many many wedding photos had been taken by others.
Stephen and Frank, under an umbrella in the Scottish weather.
McGookin, treating me to a slightly tamer-than-usual version of his photo smile.
Dean, Anne and Hannah with a slightly smaller cake. The main wedding cake(s) are in the bottom right of the frame – cheesecake!
McGookin signing the guest book, while telling a story.
The first of the speeches. Anyone want to buy me a 50mm M-Mount lens?
Listening..
Signing..
Until next time, thanks if you made it this far..
