Some very dull photographs.

September 26, 2007

For a recent college project, I had to shoot some glass. In the studio. I don’t like the studio, it doesn’t excite me at all. So, in the 40 minutes before lunch yesterday, I set up a small table in the studio, with one light and a polystyrene ‘reflector’. And took a photo of the only piece of glass I had with me.

So, I came up with three shots. I don’t think they’re very good, or worth seeing, but I wanted to break up the usual stuff that I post with something different. So here you go.

Right. I have 2 rolls of delta 400 hanging up in the shower at the moment, so you might expect to see another post of the usual stuff in the next few days. I should be (finally) back in the darkroom on friday, to start the massive job of printing a lot of photos from over summer and even before that.

On a roll or three

September 24, 2007

Yeah, excuse the pun. Thought I might try and update this with the photos I have ready at the moment instead of waiting to shoot more and then make a big massive post. Also had a really uninspiring day of walking around the city in the rain and taking very few photographs, so felt like putting some shots up on here. There’s more street shots than usual, but here’s what came off my last 3 rolls of delta 400.

Grant, waiting outside class for 25 minutes, only for the lecturer not to turn up.

Burger King shut down, and is now boarded up.

Tabloid headlines are usually entertaining.

It was a very sunny day.

Relaxing next to one of the most congested areas of traffic in the city. People in Glasgow don’t normally do this sort of thing, and you only ever see it when the weather is super nice.

Matt, before the game of poker seen in the last entry. The photo on the wall is one of mine that I printed for him – he’s wearing the same tee-shirt in both shots.

Deep in concentration. Maybe.

Very dark. I think I was probably out of the game by this point.

More silly headlines.

Looking at the negatives that made up the last entry on here while waiting for food to arrive at wagamama’s.

Typical Glaswegian lane.

Not the best composition here, but as soon as I stopped walking to take the photo they were all staring at me, so I pretended to shoot the buidling above them in the hope they would look away, but they kept looking at me, so I shot this one from the chest/neck area.

In Jenn’s new bathroom before going out for breakfast.

New, empty living room.

Anticipating our crêpe being made. Banana, chocolate and nuts. Good stuff at 10am.

Then it was back to moving stuff from old flat to new flat. My car was so full of stuff.

Okay, now for the next roll…

New flat has nice light. And boring still lifes.

My mum, in one of the chairs we were moving, in the rain.

More classroom discussions. Gripping.

Very gripping.

Sam and his little Konica, which died the other day.

Sam was shooting food photos later that day. Jenn arranged the coffee beans into a different shape..

Taking in some votes in class. Missed the focus here, shh.

Keith.

More discussion.

Petra, at the end of the class.

Now for the last roll….

Sam gets annoyed when I do this.

On Argyle Street. We had a project for college, which I decided to take some photos of people smoking for. I don’t think these are succesful in illustrating that.

Conversations around the newspaper stand. Too far away here.

Poor hipshot. The guy in the middle was wasted, and there was a heated discussion going on. Kinda wish this one had turned out.

This reel stuck when loading, so I have some nice half-moon marks on some frames, including this one. Yay.

Deciding to develop film at 1am.

Jenn took this one, obviously.

And that’s it. Thanks for reading!
