Yeah. Have just started scanning in over a month’s worth of photos. Was pretty uninspired for a while, but things seem to have picked up again, so this entry will be fairly random, with shaky chronology.
Have finished college for the Christmas holidays – Jenn and I will be spending new year in Paris, from the 28th December – 3rd January. Neither of us have been to Paris before, so we’re both really excited; we’re staying just off the Champs Elysees, so we should hopefully be in a good area to explore the city. If anyone will be in Paris around this time and wants to hang out, just leave me a note!
So, to the photos, all should be tri-x @ 1600, it’s getting dark early in Glasgow…
Sam.
Thomas.
Fish. We found a great restaurant in Kilmarnock, where the men’s washroom had a view into theladies bathroom area, through a fishtank. We both found this pretty weird. That’s Jenn on the other side, by the way.
We also happened upon an indoot market, which was pretty grim. This woman was pretty reluctant to have her photo taken, but eventually cooperated. I think that was the first time I’ve actually asked a stranger if can take their photograph, and I can see that in future, eye contact will be important in the photo.
Then we went to the big new shopping mall that’s opened just outside Glasgow. It was pretty boring.
Really late at night, I think this was 1/8th at f2 iso1600.
Getting back to the car the next night.
Janos, Alan and Garry, on a class outing observing a fashion shoot.
Part of the shoot.
It’s getting really, really cold here in Glasgow. So I popped into the Gallery of Modern Art to get a heat.
Our model for the day, taking a rest.
The ‘winterfest’ area is pretty quiet during the day. Nobody went on this ride the whole time we were there.
Then we went for lunch at the ‘Ark’, which is possibly one of the worst places for food in Glasgow.
After lunch, the class was split up into groups, and given locations around the city to do a ‘fashion shoot’ in. Our group was using a 350D, sigma 10-20mm lens, and 430ex speedlight.
But I also took a few on the M.
And so, to some stuff from the last few months that I’ve been too lazy to post. I have another roll of tri-x to scan in, not to mention a few rolls to develop, but until i get round to them…
In Borders.
RB67, innit.
Up near Inverness, on a freezing cold morning.
Grant, on an evening out for Jenn’s birthday.
Queen Street Station.
I shot a roll of tri-x through my old Canon EOS500 slr a few months ago, the change to 28mm and slr-framing was nice, viewfinder blackout and cluttered controls were not.
Delta 100 is nice.
Grant and Sam in the library.
In a small town near St. Andrews, the name escapes me at the moment..
While driving from St. Andrews to Kingsbarns, my car ran out of petrol, because I’m an idiot. So we waited for a taxi.
The next morning was better, as we spent it walking around fields and the beach and stuff. Delta400 here.
Getting ready to go out to Club Noir on a Saturday night.
The next night, a few of us went up to Edinburgh to see Jeffrey Lewis (who we saw again in glasgow two nights ago). This is his uncle, Professor Louie.
Mucking about on the way back to the car.
Mucking about before going to college one day.
Mucking about waiting for the train into college.
Had an assignment to do a shot involving an item of clothing. Top is digital, bottom is film. Obviously.
Some shots taken at the end of a shift in my workplace. Superia800.
Glasgow. Tri-x.
Thanks for reading,
x H

Very random, but such an enjoyable entry!!
This frame is so so SO lovely:

Such a whimsical atmopshere in it.
This one I really dig too:

Love how there are frames in that frame. Really cool.
I like the one of Jen you posted on dA, but the colourversion is really nice too! http://harrisonreid.files.wordpress.com/2007/12/_a_mg_3944.jpg
I wouldn’t have thought from the small size, but in the larger size the colours of the leaves really add some cool punch. Especially how the red accents on the ground match the red accents of her hat.

It made me say “WOW” out loud. Honestly a freaking fantastic frame. Very impressive. The light… woah. And just the random scenery you captured there. Fantastic.
It’s cool that you can head out of town for class assignments. All I have to do at uni is sit and listen to the professor. Getting a bit fed up with that. Oh well.
Take care!

The one of the shoes in bathroom is great. What developer did you use to push the TriX?

Thanks for the responses everyone
Matt – I used HC-110 (B dilution at 20C) to push the tri-x.

good shots, i like the general quality. you seem to do backlight shots now more often as well – or maybe i see backlight shots everywhere suddenly. http://harrisonreid.files.wordpress.com/2007/12/a_3_jennrooftop.jpg feels surreal, have you shot it with some filter? (red?), http://harrisonreid.files.wordpress.com/2007/12/leavessmall.jpg is a cute portrait and the bokeh is hot <3. http://harrisonreid.files.wordpress.com/2007/12/a_8_arms.jpg is my fav in this one, http://harrisonreid.files.wordpress.com/2007/12/a_9_celticarm.jpg would be something for someone’s “walking behind”, just that this one actually is interesting. haha so much for mocking.
good post!
