Summer is Coming

May 24, 2008

The weather has been pretty good in glasgow lately, so we’ve been out enjoying it. This promises to be a shorter entry than the last one, and I have work soon so I’ll make it quick…

Stewart gave me some really old expired slide film, which i plan on shooting in the nice bright light over the next few months or so. Me and sam were over at Haitham’s house- we got pizza delivered and played GTA IV for 3 hours, awesome.

A day or two later, I went up to Ryan’s and we played GTA IV for a few hours.

I was in the darkroom most days a few weeks back, making some big 16×12 prints and the usual 10×8’s.

These guys were hanging about when I emerged.

So was Graham.

Jonathan and I went out shooting the next day, here is Jonathan with one of his ’subjects’.

We all went for calzone the next day. I’m not really sure why, but I like this shot.

Then we took a stroll around the botanic gardens.

That night, Jonathan was taking pictures for a friend’s band, I took some of those of us who came along to hang out.

..and of the walls.

…and of the doors.

…and then some people again.

Rangers were playing the UEFA cup final that night.

Down near chinatown, while listening to a David Cross show on my iPod. Walking around nearly breaking down with laughter is so awkward.

Last weekend, Grant had a birthday party. It descended into this.

..and finished like this.

Jenn, Linda and I went to see Charlie Bartlett the other day. It was okay. This photo reminds me how I’ve aleady taken 10,000 photos with the 5D, eep.

I’ve been working nightshifts for most of the week. These kept me occupied on a break one night.

We were eating sandwiches in my car.

Some people from our year at college were holding an exhibition, so we all went along. Stewart was on doorman duty, nae joy.

This is John B McKenna, a musician from Glasgow. I’ve started a series on young musicians based in Glasgow, and John was kind enough to help me out with my first shots. We wandered around kelvingrove park and talked about music. You can listen to his music at http://www.myspace.com/johnbmckenna

I have a rough idea of what one I’m going to use, but if you could leave a comment and let me know which one you like best, that’d be great!

Cheers,

Adventures.

May 7, 2008

I think this will be another large entry. Can’t be bothered writing much.

Gordon, in a studio in college.

A few frames taken a few months back with the Leica/tri-x. Jenn in subway.

Sam, the day the lens for his Bessa arrived. In the 13th Note for lunch.

The day Jenn got gerbils.

Now back to the 5D, and some colour. And some random car parts at the top of my street.

Goofing about in college one day.

Me, taken by sam.

I’m not sure why this has a border.

Yep.

Shall I talk about the joys of sensor dust and images like this? No? Okay.

This is too dark, but I do not care enough. It was Robbie’s birthday, so we went to play minigolf and bowling, and then we ate ribs. Awesome.

Grant.

Birthday boy.

Back at their flat.

Does not like picture being taken.

Jenn and I went up to Inverness last week for a friend’s houseparty. This is us driving over the Kessock bridge late at night.

Missy the cat.

Jenn’s garden which looks onto a field, in the middle of nowhere, it’s awesome.

At the party. Some very nice people from Dundee who I didn’t know. It was a fancy dress party, obviously.

It was very dark in that room. The decorations were great.

…drinking.

Cutting the cake.

In the morning.

Packing up the car.

We visited the ‘Black Isle Wildlife Park’ in Inverness one day. There were loads of peacocks wandering around.

They had a few zebras..

..lots of goats…

..a few wallabies and wallababies…

..my legs..

…some deer..

..a pig or three..

..and some signs.

Also some paths.

These are the last two photos of animals in this entry. I promise.

Another night, another houseparty. This time at Stewart’s.

Suzie.

For the last 3 days, the weather has been like this, it’s nice for a change.

In Biere Halle. Stewart gave me some really old Ektachrome 64 slide film, which I might shoot soon. Was shooting apx100 in the nice weather.

Sam, wearing my new cheap H&M glasses.

We hung out in the Botanic Gardens a few nights back. SENSOR DUST GAH

Linda came to join us.

Sam and Haitham. Sam is on Linda’s bike.

Texting.

Haitham. I’ve been enjoying 50mm recently.

During a frisbee game in the back court.

Linda.

Wandering about the house yesterday. Dad’s Strat.

I met Jonathan in town, so we could go somewhere on a train. We saw this on our way to get sandwiches.

So we ended up getting on a train to Gourock which cost £8.25.

(look for the lolz in this one)

So that was Gourock.

Now back to Glasgow, and an old man who was walking around cleaning bins.

And to Sam, who managed to buy himself his own damn sunglasses.

Then, last night we had the year’s first barbeque!

Yep.

I have ran out of things to say, what a long entry.

Jenn and some bottles.

Taken with Jonathan’s EF 28/1.8 lens. It’s awesome.

Thanks for reading if you got this far. Hopefully next entry won’t be as epic.
