back to film…

So I was mucking about with the 5D a few hours after getting the EF 85mm/1.8, when I realised something was wrong at the high shutter speeds of 1/8000 and 1/6400. They didn’t work, at all. All the other shutter speeds were fine. So as of today, the 5D is in the Canon repair centre getting a new shutter, which will take 3 fantastic weeks! So I’m back to shooting film exclusively now. Mainly been developing and (digitally) printing in the lab at work, and keep forgetting to scan the negs to CD. So there’s no recent Leica stuff to put on here. Maybe soon.
Anyway, here’s some of the shots from before the 5D died, mostly with the new 85mm. The shot above shows how much wear I’ve put on the 5D’s body since getting it (new) in March this year.

Oh, these were taken in work with the D3 and 14-24mm/2.8. Pretty wide.

Sauchiehall street.

Enjoying nice winter light. Again.

At the ‘Christmas Fayre’ or whatever in the centre of town.

Jonathan and Sam down at the Glasgow Science Centre. Testing the 85. I like it.

Obligatory 85mm headshot.

Just missed the focus on this.

And on this one too. So why am I posting it? Idontknow.

Obligatory ‘unconventional architechture’ photo.

Jonathan shooting out of focus highlights out of his eyes. Hilarious.

Wasting time messing around with the flashgun. Bought an off-camera cable and mounting bracket recently which are fun.

No shutter replacement for this guy!

Or for this one…!

miaow.

Grant. Tired after work. Cat. Not tired after lazing around all day.

Jenn in the supermarket at 1.30am, searching for food.

Up in the hills yesterday. We found a frozen resevoir and threw rocks at it. It was awesome. Unfortunately, all the photos i took there were on film, and I don’t think my neg scanner is Mac compatible. And I can’t be bothered using that thing anyway.

Jonathan cleaning a polariser.

Jenn and her *now with a metered prism VF* Hasselblad.

Really bad vignetting here for some reason or another. Anyway.
Not sure when the next entry will be, won’t have much time to shoot over the next few weeks, got a few things lined up for the new year though.
Please hope that they repair the 5D quickly for me!

goings ons…
December 2, 2008
Thought it was about time for an update. Been quite busy recently. Not busy enough in some ways I suppose. Anyway here’s some photographs.
Fireworks Night.
Cat.
Nice, low winter light.
Sauchiehall Street.
In the new “Pound Mart”.
Christmas, mid-november.
Shot a few models recently. Test shots for portfolios and so on. Thanks to Jonathan for the use of his 50/1.4 and 28-70L/2.8 lenses!
More nice winter light.
It was freezing that day.
Grant in the city centre.
Banksy in the city centre.
Most people who drink in the streets don’t usually pour a glass…
Yep. As mentioned, it’s now really cold here. Lame clothes aplently.
Rememberremember last night at captains rest.
Won’t leave it as long for the next update….
