Nice pics. If I'd had the time to sort it, I would've let them do another set outside Solus during a quiet soundcheck. Particularly like the one of them lying down. Hope you had a good time!
(Tell Pete he still owes me a copy of the acoustic set)

I like it, but more for shoots than spontaneous stuff. 'Cause I just loved the colour postprocessing you had already going on! It's a bit more subtle and in my opinion more suitable for "snaps".
But always good to see some new stuff from you!

Yeah, I've always struggled somewhat with colour editing, these were some trials which have helped me see what I like and don't like - the contrast and blown highlights is one thing I certainly don't..!

For black and white, I do as accurate as possible colour balance in CS3 Raw editor, then use Rob Carr's B/W action in PS. I have a few preset curve/level adjustments to boost contrast, usually I use a few small changes as opposed to one large curves change.

So basically, I play about with stuff a lot.

Thanks for all the comments, very much appreciated!

I kinda like it, especially the muted colours that some of these frames have. It has a very film feel about it. However, I think sometimes it's really come at the cost of a lot of your midtones, some of these photos have really blown contrast. Also in some of them the saturation is a little too much for my liking.

These two are the best examples of the more subtle effect I like that you've achieved:

http://harrisonreid.files.wordpress.com/2009/07/mg_1179joshscreen.jpg

But these ones I'm not so much a fan of:
http://harrisonreid.files.wordpress.com/2009/07/mg_0607colour.jpg
http://harrisonreid.files.wordpress.com/2009/07/mg_0131jenn.jpg

Also, no worries if not, but could you give me a brief run down of what kind of process you use for editing your black and whites? They have a really captivating look to them and I've been trying to achieve the same, to varying success.

Cheers man, nice entry!

Another post packed with lovely black and whites again, and a colour image!

I took some shots of the Scientologists on Buchanan Street a while back, need to go back and get *good* shots. I took this:
http://moniker42.smugmug.com/photos/500743506_6vhkb-L.jpg

At which point an older nutter, er, Scientologist approached me and started lecturing me on manners and "just going up and taking pictures in people's faces"

"No, this would be in someone's face..." ta-ta-ta-ta 40D drive mode... http://moniker42.smugmug.com/photos/500743568_HCokp-L.jpg :)
